March 2026: AASHTOWare Bridge Management Newsletter

SNBI Submittal Management for 2026 – AASHTOWare Bridge Management 7.1.5 Patch

March 15th is the deadline for the first FHWA NBI data submittal that uses the SNBI data and reporting protocol. AASHTOWare Bridge Management (BrM) is built to support your data quality review and SNBI reporting processes! The BrM 7.1.5 patch is available to modify the 2026 SNBI JSON submittal and is recommended for all agencies. This update allows an agency to report a larger history of inspections being performed on a given bridge by including not only the most recent inspection event (regardless of dates performed) but also any inspection events with an Inspection Begin Date (B.IE.02) on or after 1/1/2025.

Additionally, two enhancements to support the SNBI submittal process are available with the BrM 7.1.5 release: a dashboard that flags any bridges with multiple inspections of the same type on the same day (which may have been inadvertently created) and a new report that runs a check of the NBIS Metrics on your bridge data. These tools are intended to assist with data quality for your agency’s submittal.

Users should note that the Metrics report was intended to be part of the BrM 7.2 release and has not been through the complete user acceptance testing (UAT) process. It is possible that it will need improvement with subsequent updates. The Task Force decided to release this report early to assist agencies with data quality review in advance of the first SNBI submittal. Use this report with the awareness that you may find some errors and if you do find anything that is not as it should be, please report the problems. Consider use of this report as part of the UAT process. To obtain the Metrics Report email a request to any of the Task Force members. AASHTOWare Bridge Management 7.2 Release Update

BrM 7.2, will be available to the user community in April 2026! With this release, the BrM user interface will be enhanced to adhere to WCAG 2.2 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, which is a growing requirement of member agencies. Additionally, BrM 7.2 will include:

  • Improved installation process
  • Change History Tracking
  • Integration with Open Telemetry
    • introduces a unified observability solution to monitor application behavior via logs, metrics and traces
  • NBIS Metrics Report (formerly the 23 Metrics report)
  • Location Map and Grid Control
    • Enhanced to have draggable map pin functionality
  • Clearance Module
    • Top voted priority to the user group

The Clearance Module allows users to capture significantly more data, including lane types and lane clearances, as well as visualize the clearance data via a graph. Tracking plural points per bridge allows the user to determine an overall minimum and maximum, to track different values for the leading and trailing edges of a bridge, and to communicate more data to stakeholders. This information aids in making important decisions related to bridge safety, including identifying creative solutions for getting large loads through and keeping bridges clear from collisions.

BrM 7.2 development is complete, and the release is currently in user acceptance testing (UAT). Testing materials were provided to the BrM Testing TAG in February 2026. Testing is expected to wrap up in March 2026, and final release will be packaged and available in April 2026. Please be on the lookout for BrM 7.2 in the near term!

Optimizer Training Series

Mayvue is in the process of creating a new BrM 7 Optimizer Training Series. The training will be broken down into shorter (5 – 10 minute) videos to allow viewers to pick and choose what area(s) of the Optimization pyramid they would like to focus on. Stay tuned for more information on our progress and when these videos will be released to the user community.

Coming Soon – AASHTOWare Bridge Management 7.3

The Task Force is developing a work plan for the next major release, BrM 7.3. While the details are still being finalized, most of the release focuses on the user-voted priority enhancements and feedback from BrM 7.X users including:

  • Inspection Assignment module improvements (e.g., bulk assignment features)
  • Granularity in security and data integrity
  • Multimedia enhancements, and much more.

Please keep an eye out for a future product update which will detail this release and provide other pertinent information.

AASHTOWare Bridge Management User Manual – Document360 Announcement

Document360 recently made an update to its API which can break links to the BrM user manual for some users. Specifically, Document360 implemented an update which throws an error for direct links where there are two or more backslashes. This is being resolved in the BrM 7.1.5 patch and BrM 7.2, but there’s a simple work around if a user runs into this issue before upgrading: Delete one of the backslashes and the user manual will generate as expected. Example below:

AASHTOWare Bridge Management API Quick Start Guide Available

In our ongoing efforts to add value to the AASHTOWare OpenAPI experience, the Task Force has published additional documentation to aid in the use of the purpose-built calls released in BrM API v2 with BrM 7.1. The BrM API Quick Start Guide provides valuable information such as step-by-step instructions on token generation, sample calls required to obtain common data (ex: bridge condition), and more. Users can access this documentation via the Help icon in BrM, just like they access the user manual. This documentation will continue to be updated over time based on user experience and feedback.
