June 2025: AASHTOWare Bridge Management Newsletter

BrM 7.0 Patch (v7.0.2)

Over the past few months we have continued to be hard at work assisting agencies with migrating to BrM 7.0. As part of this effort, an API release (BrM v7.0.2) was made available in April and offers enhancements to the API documentation and authentication to further support AASHTOWare OpenAPI and assist agencies with their critical integrations.

What’s Included in BrM 7.0.2?:

  • BrM API documentation enhancements that improve the readability and usability of the BrM API in AASHTOWare OpenAPI and provide a more intuitive experience for BrM API consumers. The documentation enhancements include:
  • New description summaries for endpoints and parameters
  • Contextual remarks providing usage scenarios and edge cases for certain endpoints
  • The addition of return-type examples for all endpoints
  • Example request payloads to assist with forming new requests
  • The addition of a new Settings > Security > API Credentials screen in BrM that allows the user to generate a credential that consists of a client ID and a client secret, which are used to retrieve BrM API tokens from the API token endpoint. The API tokens are used to securely make API calls from AASHTOWare OpenAPI.
  • High priority user submitted tickets.

Installation Package:

Non-hosted agencies, please request access to the BrM 7.0.2 installation package through Mayvue via a JIRA service management ticket (support.mayvue.com) or by emailing support@mayvue.com. A ShareFile link will be provided with all necessary installation files, database scripts, and other pertinent information to install and run BrM 7.0.2.

Hosted agencies simply notify Mayvue to ensure a plan is in place to transition to BrM 7.0.2.

AASHTOWare Bridge Management Open Lab

We hope you were able to join us for the AASHTOWare BrM Open Lab on Tuesday, June 17th. If not, be sure to review the recording available here.

This developer-focused session offered a hands-on introduction to the AASHTOWare OpenAPI platform and a guided exploration of the significantly updated BrM 7.x API. Attendees walked through the prerequisites and step-by-step processes to harness the full power of this modernized API, highlighting the key differences from the widely adopted BrM 6.x API while setting the stage for deeper technical dives in future sessions. The following topics were covered in this session:

• Discover the AASHTOWare OpenAPI Platform: Learn its crucial role in powering the new BrM API.
• Understand API Prerequisites: Get a clear overview of the fundamentals required to work with the BrM 7.x API.
• Explore Core API Scenarios: Hands-on exploration of essential API workflows designed for a smooth transition from BrM 6.x.
• Gain Practical Integration Skills: Develop actionable strategies and best practices for leveraging the updated API features.
• Connect with the Developer Community: Network with peers and set the stage for more advanced sessions down the line.

If you or anyone at your agency has questions regarding the Open Lab or AASHTOWare Bridge Management, please reach out to Ryan Fragapane, Product Director. Additionally, if you or a third party needs assistance with a BrM integration through AASHTOWare OpenAPI, please contact Customer Support through JIRA service management (support.mayvue.com) or by emailing support@mayvue.com.

BrM 7.1: Development Update
The next major release of BrM, version 7.1, is on track to be available to the user community in August 2025! This release focuses on the Optimizer and BrM management modules, rounding out the BrM functionality previously delivered in BrM 7.0.

Development is complete and the final walk-through demonstration (#4) occurred in March 2025. For access to any of the walk-through session(s), please contact the AASHTOWare BrM Product Manager Ben Sade.

The BrM 7.1 beta test site and an installation package was provided to the Testing TAG earlier this month for beta testing. A secondary beta testing release will be provided in June with a number of Task Force Directed enhancements, including: BrM 7.x API data integrity validations, FHWA validation updates, the ability to delete certifications, bulk delete permission for the Multimedia modal, a Select All checkbox for Navigation Security, and more.

Mayvue will continue to review and remediate issues raised during beta testing as we prepare for the production release in August.

BrM 7.2 Development Update

More good news…the work plan for BrM version 7.2, was recently signed and development has begun. With this release, the software will be enhanced with UI updates to adhere to WCAG 2.2 ADA guidelines, API enhancements such as Field Level Security and integration with Open Telemetry, and the top voted enhancement from the user group’s priority list – a BrM Clearance Module. FY26-FY30 Strategic Work Plan

AASHTOWare is excited to announce our FY26–FY30 Strategic Work Plan. Developed collaboratively by AASHTOWare volunteers across all products and AASHTO staff, this plan is designed to align program efforts to better serve member agencies and adapt to the evolving needs of the transportation industry. The plan is set to launch in July 2025 and will strengthen AASHTOWare’s overall impact and value.

To ensure active engagement from all Task Forces and Committees, we have established the AASHTOWare Strategic Work Plan Implementation Committee, which includes one representative from each product. This committee, which began meeting quarterly in February, will act as a liaison for all strategic planning efforts moving forward.

The FY26–FY30 Strategic Work Plan is intentionally aligned with the ongoing work and direction of our products while incorporating AASHTOWare’s strategic principles. This work plan is more than just a checklist; it establishes meaningful goals to drive progress and foster growth across our community. AASHTO staff and contractors will support the implementation process to ensure the workload is balanced and does not fall solely on Task Force or Committee members.

If you have any questions regarding the Strategic Work Plan, including implementation or available resources, please feel free to reach out to Ryan Fragapane, Product Director.
We look forward to all we will accomplish together over the next five years!

Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs)

Are you interested in getting more involved with AASHTOWare Bridge Management? Consider joining a Technical Advisory Group (TAG)! This opportunity allows users to share their expertise with the bridge community, offering valuable insights without a significant time commitment. TAGs play a crucial role by providing specialized knowledge and helping to ensure that product developments meet the needs of the AASHTO user community. For more information on any of the 4 TAGs outlined below, contact Ryan Fragapane, Product Director.

• The Testing TAG is primarily in charge of beta testing major releases of BrM. The goal of the TAG is to provide early feedback so that issues can be addressed before they are released to the entire community. Testing can be performed on vendor-hosted installations, or an agency can install the Beta release to test against their environment. This team has input on enhancements before they are released and votes to approve releases.

• The Database TAG looks into changes in the database and helps to advise on different setups and schemas. The benefit of this tag is that it allows them to use software to see changes to the database to advise on possible structural changes and to see new changes early to the database to allow input into these changes.

• The Optimizer TAG is an open forum for people to discuss different optimization methods that may be in the Product or may want to be in the Product. Also, it is an excellent way to discuss what people are doing with different ways to do optimization in the Product.

• The Reports and Dashboard TAG helps with determining what the baseline reports are in Product. This may include reports that are no longer needed and reports needed for new features, how they are laid out, and what information they should contain. They also may look at the ability to change what types of reporting engines are needed or things of a graphical nature that are possibly needed in reporting.

BrM Hosted-Only Solution (FY2029)

Agencies are encouraged to begin planning for the transition to cloud-hosted software now. Effective July 1, 2028 (start of FY2029), BrM will transition to a cloud-hosted solution only. This decision aligns with industry standards and ensures a consistent, high-quality user experience.

The BrM Enterprise hosting offering is now available in the FY2026 AASHTOWare catalog. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the AASHTOWare BrM Product Director (Ryan Fragapane) to start a discussion.
