AASHTOWare BrM 7.1.5 Patch Release

AASHTOWare is pleased to announce that the BrM patch release (7.1.5) is now available for download. As always, the AASHTOWare Bridge Management Task Force recommends agencies upgrade to this latest version of BrM as it offers numerous updates.

BrM 7.1.5 is specifically targeted to support the SNBI data submittal. It provides an improvement in how inspection schedule (B.IE) fields are reported in the SNBI export. This update allows an agency to report a larger history of inspections being performed on a given bridge by including not only the most recent inspection event (regardless of dates performed) but also any inspection events with an Inspection Begin Date (B.IE.02) on or after 1/1/2025.

Here are two examples of how inspections being performed are reported with the 7.1.5 patch:

  • Example 1: For bridge 1, a combination routine and underwater inspection was performed on 1/1/2025, a damage inspection was performed on 3/1/2025, another routine inspection was performed on 1/1/2026, and another damage inspection was performed on 2/1/2026.
    • The B.IE data for all of the above events (all performed on or after 1/1/2025) is reported.
    • The B.C, B.E, and B.IR data is reported from the most recent overall inspection event, which is the 2/1/2026 damage inspection.
  • Example 2: For bridge 2, the most recent inspection performed was a routine inspection on 12/31/2024.
    • Because the most recent inspection is earlier than 1/1/2025, the B.IE, B.C, B.E, and B.IR data is all reported from the 12/31/2024 routine inspection.

Additionally, two enhancements to support the SNBI submittal process are available with this release: a dashboard that flags any bridges with multiple inspections of the same type on the same day (which may have been inadvertently created) and a new report that runs a check of the 23 Metrics on your bridge data. These tools are intended to assist with data quality for your agencies NBI submittal.

Users should note that the 23 Metrics report was intended to be part of the BrM 7.2 release and has not been through the complete user acceptance testing (UAT) process. It is possible that it will need improvement with subsequent updates. The Task Force has decided to release this report early to assist agencies with data quality review in advance of the first SNBI submittal. Use this report with the awareness that you may find some errors and if you do find anything that is not as it should be please report the problems. Consider use of this report as part of the UAT process. To obtain the Metrics Report email a request to any of the Task Force members.

There are some other minor improvements included in this release such as improving the validation query performance and resolving a Document360 user interface issue that was recently reported.

Due to the release being close to the Federal submission date, this patch is recommended but not mandatory. Agencies will need to run the updated install file and complete the database updates as described in the database migration guide document.
